東門島兀峙海中，為象山石浦遮罩，舊志所稱天門山者是也。唐設昌國衛城於此。群島羅列，島北港口日銅瓦門，島南港口日老東門，扼三門灣航路要津。每遇天霧夜霾，港門莫辨咫尺，海舶過此，驚濤險惡，鹹視為畏途焉。歲乙卯春，島人任筱和、筱孚兄弟，醵金建燈塔于島之東南，指迷航路，遂慶安瀾。己未秋後，役人弗成，塔屋被毀，筱和昆仲複商紀君傳長等，集貲擴築三層燈塔，更就塔旁造屋七楹，以為司燈棲息之所，庖滔備具，工堅且固，前後共費萬余金，不惜毀家以成善舉。從此海波不驚，商人歌頌，而任氏兄弟樂善好義之風，遂與斯塔並垂不朽，萬年無終極。長霖也浙人，同慶懷焉，遂為之記，以詔方來，垂後世。甲子孟秋之月。
