葬不得埋曰棄，不得其屍曰捐。衣以周身，棺以周衣，槨以周棺，土以周槨，禮也。自夷鬼陀林之教行，始有畔中國之禮、而忍棄其親者，人心之陷溺也久矣。吁，可憫哉！淞之民，類不以禮葬其親者，人謂無丘陵之地，則有付之水火，亦勢使之然也。仲尼觀延陵季子葬其子，其坎深不至於泉。淞之葬也，獨無坯土可窾乎？此華亭夏君尚忠義塚之所以作也。得不食之地於胥涇之東，周垣一里所，為之封域名義塚，使藏無地者歸焉什伍曹，其子孫氏各樹識表，而有異日展享之托。又規地一隅為精舍，俾浮屠者主之，以掌其籍焉。其有貧不克葬者，又出資力以助之。於乎，君之用心亦仁矣！

文王更葬朽骨，而天下恩之。宋世良、賀蘭祥輩收瘞暴骸，而境旱得雨。夏君之仁，其不有感於天人乎？吾聞君之先人清潤處士，嘗憫人積喪不入土者，捐金粟至千斛緡弗計。義塚之舉，其又不為善繼先志者乎？余固樂書其事，而況君重有請也，於是乎書。

君，郡之義門敦武公孫，字士文，承直郎、鎮江路府判官，棄而歸隱，益讀書習禮文事。又創立夏黃書院，以祔享其外祖橘隱公，其好古崇禮類
