On Guisi, sacrifice (to) Ancestress Gui one head of pen-raised cattle (and) [unknown name] will pray. 123 415 As the object of the verb xue this word appears to be a name. It occurs on the fragment- ed 253 and at 293.1: [ ] it should be Tuo* who dances. The divination that immediately follows it on that shell, 292.2, says: () () it should be Uproot that is danced first, and from this we can deduce that is either the name of a dance or the name of a fe- male person who will dance it. 416 The reading here is uncertain but the graph appears to depict two people in motion and the context recommends that it was related to dance. It occurs again on 380 as a verb: : . Song Zhenhao (2010: 462) suggests it means to dance. HYZ 283 | 273
