臣近奉聖旨，撰賜文彥博、呂公著今後入朝免拜詔書，今又准內降準指揮，撰不允彥博辭避免拜批答。臣謹按《禮經》：「八十拜君命，一坐再至。」所謂「拜君命」者，傳命而拜，非朝見也，然且不免。周天子賜齊桓公胙曰：「伯父耋老，無下拜。」公曰：「天威不違顏咫尺。」下拜登受。所謂「無下拜」者，拜於堂上，非不拜也，然且不敢。鍾繇以足疾乘車就坐，疑若不拜，然亦無明文。君前乘車，豈足為法。而馬燧延英不拜，蓋是臨時優禮，無今後遂不復拜之文。祖宗舊例，如呂端之流，以老病進對，亦止於臨時傳宣不拜。今來彥博、公著今後免拜指揮，自是朝廷優賢貴老，度越古今，無可議者。但臣是有司，合守典禮，兼恐彥博、公著終不敢當。以臣愚見，不若允其所請。若聖恩優閔老臣，眷眷不已，遇其朝見，間或傳宣不拜，足以為非常之恩。臣忝備侍從，懷有所見，不敢不盡。所有不允批答，臣未敢撰。取進止。
