泗州大聖《僧伽傳》云：「和尚何國人也。又世雲莫知其所從來，云：『不知何國人也。』」近讀《隋史．西域傳》，乃有何國。餘在惠州，忽被命責儋耳。太守方子容自攜告身來，且弔余曰：「此固前定，可無恨。吾妻沈素事僧伽謹甚，一夕夢和尚告別，沈問所往，答云：『當與蘇子瞻同行。後七十二日，當有命。』今適七十二日矣，豈非前定乎！」餘以謂事之前定者，不待夢而知。然餘何人也，而和尚辱與同行，得非夙世有少緣契乎？
