羲仲再拜：仲夏毒熱，恭惟十一伯、十四伯、十六伯尊體動止福。某頃遭家難，叔父、舍弟相繼不幸，迎侍老母赴官湖外。行次臨湘，老母損館，中塗孤露，無計生全，其自脫於萬死一生之憂患者，以老母大事也。貧不能歸，寓居蘄春者數年乃歸，謀辦大事，改葬老人老母於江州龍泉山，以二弟從焉。又改葬叔父、家嬸於南康軍，以弟妹從焉。一舉八喪，智力俱困，俯仰自悲，此情無量。已而調官，得巨野簿。去年之春歸自巨野，自罹憂侵凌，都不復講人事。巨野三年，道路阻遠，以此久不通問左右。然其馳仰之素，未嘗少忘也。書問雖不數，然實非懈怠。當其遭家難奉几筵，一身百憂，負丘山之責，夙夜以大事爲憂，尚何暇講書尺之禮哉！迹涉懈怠，當蒙痛察。今春來走德安，松楸咫尺之間，展省甚便，餘不足言。到官末及定居，沿檄往饒、信州，往返千餘里，凡四十日乃歸，以此不即奏記。不敏之愧，併冀賜察。不知伯翁幾時葬，十年之間經歷患難，都不知動靜，拳拳馳仰，此情憂縣，末由一見，臨書悃懇。敢冀順時保重，謹奉狀承動靜，不備。
