「急景歸來早，濃陰晚不開，傾杯不能飲，待得卯君來。」今日局中早出，陰晦欲雪，而子由在戶部晚出，作此數句。忽記十年前在彭城時，王定國來相過，留十余日，還南都。時子由為宋幕，定國臨去，求家書，仆醉不能作，獨以一絕與之。雲「王郎西去路漫漫，野店無人霜月寒。淚濕粉箋書不得，憑君送與卯君看。」卯君，子由小名也。今日情味雖差勝彭城，然不若同歸林下，夜雨對床，乃為樂耳。元祐三年十月二十三日。
