詩所以發性情之和也，性情未發，詩為無聲；性情既發，詩為有聲。綍於無聲，詩之精；宣於有聲，詩之跡。前之二謝，後之一蘇，其詩瑰偉卓犖，今世所膾炙。然此句之韻之者耳！夢草池塘，精神相付屬；對床風雨，意思相怡愉。傳曰：「立見其參於前，在輿見其倚於衡，」謝有焉。「樂則生，生則惡可已」，蘇有焉。東溪君嗜詩，叔曰北谷，而雲谷又其弟。鶴鳴子和，塤龡篪應，天和流動，雍於一堂，所謂無聲之詩也。噫！謝之樂，不能兼蘇；蘇之樂，不能兼謝；東溪君合蘇、謝而一之，其樂庸有既乎！若夫君所以句之韻之者，予非能詩，又焉能評？其歸問之二谷。
