官湖王先生，以文章名家，其子山立，無忝於弓冶之業。蚤攜琴書，相從諸公筆硯間。既而曰：「士不為司馬子長遊，不足以為學。」於是上下四方者，幾年於行。今遊且倦矣，湖海之風波浸惡，山林之歲月漸長，斂其如川方至之銳，以就於霜降水涸之實，山立將從事乎此。昔孫泰山為養索遊，范文正公給以月俸三千，遂得留意於學，卒為一世師表。誠齋素貧，得劉氏館，以故旁搜遠紹，及讀世間未見之書，南渡以來稱儒宗焉。二先生之事，夫人而可為也，會有拈出故事，以嘉惠山立者，其靜以待之。
