新吳昭德觀，或傳西晉劉仙人飛升之地，其觀前井猶仙人時丹井也。今鄒高士居其觀，亦以煉丹名。或曰：高士仙人之徒與？予詰其所以為丹，則高士之丹，非仙人之丹也。仙人之所謂丹，求飛升也；高士之所謂求丹，伐病也。仙人之心，狹於成己；高士之心，溥於濟人。且夫兼人己為一致，合體用為一原，吾儒所以為吾儒也。重己而遺人，知體而忘用，異端之所以為異端也。高士非學吾儒者，而能以濟人為心，噫！高士不賢於仙人歟？
