以前，其事俱見《宋編》，今斷自
至元十七年
爲始，而事有與前相繫者，仍於其下追書之，以便考究始末。
一，舊史，革命之際起事諸人俱繫後代，故陳勝、項籍不係秦而係漢，李密、王世充不係隋而係唐。元末羣雄並起，若友諒、士誠、玉珍輩，俱當從此例，故今但略述喪亂之由，而其事應入我朝國史者，俱不載。
