陽明子之居夷也，穴山麓之窩而讀《易》其間。始其未得也，仰而思焉，俯而疑焉，函六合，入無微，茫乎其無所指，孑乎其若株。其或得之也，沛兮其若決，聯兮其若徹，菹淤出焉，精華入焉，若有相者而莫知其所以然。其得而玩之也，優然其休焉，充然其喜焉，油然其春生焉；精粗一，外內翕，視險若夷，而不知其夷之為厄也。於是陽明子撫幾而歎曰：「嗟乎！此古之君子所以甘囚奴，忘拘幽，而不知其老之將至也夫！吾知所以終吾身矣。」名其窩曰「玩易」，而為之說曰：

夫《易》，三才之道備焉。古之君子，居則觀其象而玩其辭，動則觀其變而玩其占。觀象玩辭，三才之體立矣；觀變玩占，三才之用行矣。體立，故存而神；用行，故動而化。神，故知周萬物而無方；化，故範圍天地而無跡。無方，則象辭基焉；無跡，則變占生焉。是故君子洗心而退藏於密，齋戒以神明其德也。蓋昔者夫子嘗韋編三絕焉。嗚呼！假我數十年以學《易》，其亦可以無大過已夫！
