接讀來詩，彌增愧側，名言在茲，不啻口出，古人有之。然使足下蒙朋黨之譏，而老夫受虛名之禍，未必不由於此也。韓伯休不欲女子知名，足下乃欲播吾名於士大夫，其去昔賢之見，何其遠乎？「人相忘於道術，魚相忘於江湖」，若每作一詩，輒相推重，是昔人標榜之習，而大雅君子所弗為也。願老弟自今以往，不復掛朽人於筆舌之間，則所以全之者大矣。
