（羊秉為撫軍叅軍，少亡，冇令譽。夏侯孝若為之叙，極相讃悼。羊權為黄門侍郎，侍簡文坐，帝問曰：「夏侯湛作《羊秉序》，絶可想是卿何物。」）秉，字長逹，太山平陽人，漢南陽太守續曾孫。大父魏郡府君，即車騎掾元子也。府君夫人鄭氏無子，乃養秉。齠齔而佳，小心敬慎。十歲而鄭夫人薨，秉思容盡哀，俄而公府掾及夫人並卒。秉羣從父，率禮相承，人不間其親，雝雝如也。仕參撫軍將軍事，將奮千里之足，揮冲天之翼，惜乎春秋三十有二而卒。昔罕虎死，子產以為無與為善。自夫子之沒，有子產之歎矣。亡後有子，男又不育，是何行善而禍繁也，豈非司馬生之所惑歟？
