雍正三年
春，苞赴京師，道濟寧，諸暨楊三烱以兗郡丞督漕駐此，云：「始到官，寓署之西偏，蓋曾子故居也。聽事處，即正廟。前吏者遷主於西城樓而宅之，又於隙地治燕私之齋。余將就其址，構數楹，迎主歸，定祀。且延師召諸生講誦於此，俾眾著於先賢之遺跡，而不敢廢焉。舍故廟而別祠，恐後之人狃於前事而不能保也。」秋九月以書來請記，曰：「工訖矣。」余嘗謂道一而已，而聖賢代興。其操行之要，與所示學者入德之方，則必有爲前聖所未發者。《詩》《書》《易》《禮》深微奧博，非積學者不能遍觀而驟入也。至孔子，則所言皆平近顯易，夫人可知，而六經之旨備焉。至曾子傳《大學》，揭慎獨之義，俾學者隨事觸物而不容自欺，所以直指人心道心之分，而開孟子所謂幾希之端緒，乃前之聖人所未發也。其自稱曰：「吾日三省吾身。」即慎獨之見於操行之實者耳。

夫見廟而思敬，過墓而知哀，苟有人心者莫不然。況入先賢之宮，而有漠然無所興起者乎？諸生誠切究夫省身慎獨之義，則知功利之溺心，詞章之蠹學，而慨然有志於遠且大者。而後之吏者，自惟燕私之居，則務廣而無窮。而先賢祀享、諸生講誦之地盡取而不留一區，其必有不得於心者矣！
