（去縣東南四十里。漢為松陵鎮，唐置驛，築西南北三塘以通行旅。宋設巡檢司。元末張士誠據吳江，築土城於此，屬隆平府。其地無高山大陵，一望皆平，故名。又名平江、平水、平川。）舊是松陵鎮，唐初置驛程。
