龔自珍自編次甲戌以還文章，曰文集者十卷，曰餘集者又三卷，既竣，於敗簏中，見所刪棄者，倍所存者，觸之崢嶸，憶之纏綿，因又淘揀其稍稍可者，付小胥，附餘集之尾。以少作之居太半於是也，統題曰《少作》，合一十八篇，別為卷。癸未仲夏朔自珍識。
