伏承不察空疏，辱示書教，稱道過實，慚懼交至。某自少讀書，喜作文字，志氣方銳，以多為賢。流傳世俗，誤見推許。近歲以來，遭罹患難，舊學衰落。加以當世文士，述作至多，每一開編，終日驚歎。故自近日，深自斂退，未嘗有所為文。方欲收拾舊書，而已傳布四方，不可復掩。豈謂賢達，尚復以此見稱，每讀來書，只增愧汗。所示古今詩二卷，詞藻既贍，格律又高，誦詠再三，浩不可測。辱賜之厚，未知所報。
