軾以謂叔孫通制禮，雖不能如三代，然亦因時施宜，有補於世者。魯二生非之，其言未必皆當，通以謂不知時變，亦宜矣。然謹按揚子《法言》：昔齊魯有大臣，史失其名，或曰，如何其大也？曰，叔孫通欲制君臣之儀，聘先生於齊魯，所不能致者二人。由此觀之，大臣以道事君，不可則止，然後中以托六尺之孤，可以寄百里之命。若與時上下，隨人俯仰，雖或適用於一時，何足謂之大臣為社稷之衛哉！
