柳子厚詩云：「盛時一失貴反賤，桃笙葵扇安敢當。」不知桃笙為何物。偶閱《方言》：「簟，宋、魏之間謂之笙。」乃悟桃笙以桃竹為簟也。梁簡文《答湘南王獻簟書》云：「五離九折，出桃枝之翠筍。」乃謂桃枝竹簟也。桃竹出巴、渝間，杜子美有《桃竹杖歌》。
