張旭為常熟尉，有父老訴事，為判其狀，欣然持去。不數日，復有所訴，亦為判之。他日復來。張甚怒，以為好訟。叩頭曰：「非敢訟也，誠見少公筆勢殊妙，欲家藏之爾。」張驚問其詳，則其父蓋天下工書者也。張由此盡得筆法之妙。古人得筆法有所自，張以劍器，容有是理。雷太簡乃雲聞江聲而筆法進，文與可亦言見蛇鬥而草書長，此殆謬矣。
