元豐四年正月，余自齊安往岐亭，泛舟而還。過古黃州。獲一鏡，周尺有二寸，其背銘云：「漢有善銅出白陽，取為鏡，清而明，左龍右虎亻甫之。」其字如菽大，雜篆隸，甚精妙。白陽，疑南陽白水之陽也。其銅黑色，如漆。其背如刻玉。其明照人微小。舊聞古鏡皆然，此道家聚形之法也。
