中和二字，皆道之體用。舊聞李先生論此最詳，後來所見不同，遂不復致思。今乃知其為人深切。然恨己不能盡記其曲折矣。如云「人固有無所喜怒哀樂之時，然謂之未發則不可，言無主也」，又如先言慎獨，然後及中和。此亦嘗言之。但當時既不領略，後來又不深思。遂成蹉過。辜負此翁耳。
