居官無修業之益。若以俗學言之，誠是如此。若論聖門所謂德業者，卻初不在日用之外。只押文字，便是進德修業地頭。不必編綴異聞，乃為修業也。近覺向來為學，實有向外浮泛之弊。不惟自誤，而誤人亦不少。方別尋得一頭緒，似差簡約端的。始知文字言語之外，真別有用心處。恨未得面論也。浙中後來事體，大段支離乖僻。恐不止似正似邪而已。極令人難說。只得惶恐，痛自警省。恐未可專執舊說，以為取舍也。
