昔周封列國七十，而同姓者五十三人；漢申丹書之信，而外戚侯者恩寖廣矣。詩曰：「大邦維屏，大宗維翰。」其此之謂乎？元興，宗室駙馬，通稱諸王，歲賜之頒，分地之入，所以盡夫展親之義者，亦優且渥。然初制簡朴，位號無稱，惟視印章，以為輕重。厥後遂有國邑之名，而賜印之等猶前日也。得諸掌故，具著于篇。作諸王表。
