宋子曰：五行之內，土為萬物之母。子之貴者，豈惟五金哉。金與水相守而流，功用謂莫尚焉矣。石得燔而咸功，蓋愈出而愈奇焉。水浸淫而敗物，有隙必攻，所謂不遺絲髮者。調和一物，以為外拒，漂海則衝洋瀾，粘甃則固城雉。不煩歷候遠涉，而至寶得焉。燔石之功，殆莫之與京矣。至於礬現五金色之形，硫為羣石之將，皆變化於烈火。巧極丹鉛爐火，方士縱焦勞唇舌，何嘗肖像天工之萬一哉！
