孝慈高皇后馬氏

宿州徐王馬公女也。馬之先有宋太保默者，家於宿州之新豐里，數傳及公，以貲豪里中，善施而貧。

元至順間，其母鄭媼后卒。公殺人避仇，投所好友定遠郭子興，以后託焉。會江淮亂，子興起兵據濠州。太祖在軍中，子興妻張氏奇太祖，力勸子興妻太祖以后，曰：『是人有異相非常，當藉此收之，且馬公不可負也。』子興以爲然，遂贅太祖於其家。獨子興子三與不相能數，數構太祖，間以他事幽太祖別室，絕日食。后竊懷鐺底飼之。值蒸𩟠熱，后乘熱竊其一，懷之薄乳旁，乳爲之糜。幸張氏憐后，意皇急陰解之。

時諸軍四出多鹵獻，獨太祖無有。子興怒，后密匄張氏，婉轉且以棗脯薦子興，子興置不問。后善承人意而知書，精女紅，太祖每出軍，一切軍狀皆屬。
