修身踐言，謂之善行。行修言道，禮之質也。
「道」，順也。能修其身以踐其言，則行修矣。所言者皆可修之於身，則言顺矣。
禮聞取於人，不聞取人。
君子秉禮在躬，人將取則。身不修，言不道，强欲效人以行禮，質不立而所行皆僞矣。
禮聞來學，不聞往教。
有自修之心則來學而因以教之，若未能有自修之志而强往教之，則雖教亡益。故君子修身務本，而後可以學禮。
