讀報章，示以不作入覲之舉。湄固知閣下澹泊爲懷，用舍行藏，不足攖其胸臆。從此五湖三徑，得賦遂初。泉石之優游，遠勝簿書之鞅掌矣。惟是風流雲散，閣下卽不以仕已關情，而湄追憶疇曩，重邀青睞，惟有舊恩忘不得，此心殊覺黯然耳。
