（慰其姪失館）手書疊至，謂四月鴛池，夢蘭可卜。弟非神乎技者，方自笑其鳩拙，安所得珠而藏之櫝耶？
昔侯夫人逾月而娩，以其時攷之，宜爲震之長男；而爲巽之長女，良由當局者自失其期，遂令旁觀者難神其算也。
令姪館事，屢謀屢失，降而就副，未免大才小用；靜以待之，自有碧梧千尺耳。
寓函往復，何足云勞。而仁人用心，祝以多子，則兄之善頌善禱，積福尤宏，不更當老蚌生珠耶？
