諸曹失之，一郡得之，此十數州縣之慶也。國家得之，交遊失之，此又二三士大夫之憾也。吾友王子貽上。年少而才。既舉進士，于甲第當任部主事，而用新令，出爲推官揚州，將與吾黨別。吾見憾者方在燕市，而慶者已翹足企盼，相望江淮之間矣。王子勉旃！事上宜敬，接下宜誠，莅事宜慎，用刑宜寬。反是罪也。吾告王子止此矣。朔風初勁，雨雪載途，搖策而行，努力自愛。
