向讀尤悔庵先生《西堂雜俎》，其傾倒於湯君者實甚。屢欲購《湘中草》讀之而不可得。及《西堂全集》出，始見其書，誠有如尤先生所云者。湯君雖早賦玉樓，然觀其間而有餘，苟以東坡「無事此靜坐，一日似兩日」之說准之，則二十五年之壽，便可作五十觀矣。心齊居士題。
