　宕陰常曰、予士也。非儒。有詩云、不願死入儒林傳。輕甲一聯藏在家。其負氣如此。固不屑屑于臨池之末也。
　息軒爲慊堂塾長。一日慊堂付與一法書、且曰、子才高學優。他日當成名。則索書者必多。子作字太拙。不於今學書、後悔靡及。息軒服膺師訓、暇輙學書、頗有可觀。後年專精治經、兀兀著書、以油繼晷、不遑顧他。臨池業廢、其書益拙。今所傳、往往有工拙如出別手者、蓋爲此云。（碩園先生文集）
