一刀兩斷，熟語也。語出宋
儒之書。本義，蓋以利刃斷物，一揮而分為二也。後世引申，遂以為處事果決、斷然不易之喻。
由來
考其源流，見於《
朱子語類
》。
朱子名熹，
南宋大儒也。朱子與門人問答，後錄爲《朱子語類》。其意，謂孔子之為人，憂樂分明。其憂天下，則專心思之，至於廢寢；及至樂時，則盡遣其憂，全神享之。心境之轉易，如刀之斷物，兩不相涉，故曰「一刀兩斷」。此其始意也
。
今義
今之用法，異乎曏者。
東瀛多取其果決之意，而中土則常用以喻斷絕舊誼，不復往來矣
。
