聯合國之專門公會也。始於國際氣象組織，公元一八七三年結於維也納者也。公元一九四七年，准《世界氣象組織公約》，立公會。一九五年三月廿三日，約始生效，國際氣象組織更名世界氣象組織。越明年，公會始運作。
一九六年，定公會之更名之日為世界氣象日
