Punctuation options
世紀，一曰稘，百年也，屬西曆法
。以基督降世立元，後每百年以數次之。如一世紀者，一年起而百年訖；二世紀者，百一年起而二百年訖。耶降以前，則呼前幾世紀。天文亦有世紀法，以有零年，乃以零至九十九年為一世紀；而百年至百九十九年為二世紀。其別如此。
釋名
稘，期之重文，《
禮記
》云：「百年曰期」，
侯官嚴氏以譯世紀。嚴譯之名，玄者玄之，以著其專。故期之作稘，猶速度之作遬、自由作自繇。
