中山慶子，權大納言中山忠能女也，母松浦愛子。
天保七年誕於京都石樂師。
年十七，入宮任典侍，賜名安榮，後有幸於孝明天皇
。
嘉永五年九月廿二日，生皇子祐宮。
祐宮養於中山家，年五歲入宮，居慶子舊宮。孝明天皇僅得一子，遂於萬延元年七月十日令祐宮以准后女御九條夙子為嫡母，同九月廿八日封親王，名睦仁。
慶應三年正月九日，睦仁親王踐祚，改元明治
。四月，慶子以疾辭典侍之職。
元年八月初四，敘任從三位，賜采邑，食祿五百石。
翌年九月初七敘任從二位。
三年隨天皇遷東京
。
十二年，
大正天皇生，明治天皇以慶子育之，至十歲。
二十二年敘任正二位。
明治維新後，
女院雖廢，慶子猶尊國母，號中山一位局
。
三十三年正月十五日敘任從一位。十七日授一等寶冠章。
四十年十月初五，薨，年七十三，葬豐島岡墓地。
