六部者，吏、戶、禮、兵、刑、工諸部之總稱也。其職向以秦漢九卿所掌，
魏晉以降，多以尚書分曹而治，漸稱部。及隋唐始以六部隸尚書省，以其應周禮六官，並秦漢九卿之職。至蒙元際改屬中書省，後明太祖罷
丞相而不置，以尚書任天下事。清季，新設外務諸部，六部之名遂廢。
