夏威夷言火奴魯魯，謂「屏蔽之灣」、「屏蔽之地」也。西元十九世紀，
檀香木繁殖，輸中國，故華人稱之為檀香山。處歐胡島東南隅，亦設區謂「火奴魯魯」。
美國夏威夷州所治也。島中列城甚廣。
