順天府東安人，本姓張，諱福時
。善騎射，諳韜略。
傳
嘉靖中歷官漕運參將，晉掛印總兵，總漕務焉。
世宗以「清不過福時、勇不過馬芳」謂之。後為言官論去。以上賜之敕，皆名而不氏，故姓福氏，其後相傳姓福也。
