黃河自出劄陵湖，河床始為下切，河面寬處六十公尺，深約一公尺，此河澄清見底。自至達瑪多城，河水繞列赤紅山脈，名曰積石山，藏譯阿尼瑪卿山，意為黃河之祖。積石山又名為瑪積雪山，於青海之東南，延至甘肅南之邊，為昆侖山脈中支。
