鹿者，獸也，多屬鹿科，爲哺乳動物偶蹄目，眼窩深陷，有顏面線，腿纖而長，善奔走，雄鹿多有角。種數，凡十六屬四十三種，廣布環宇。其肉可食，皮亦可爲革。幼鹿之角可入藥，謂之鹿茸
