。所以阻隔視線，立於
正門，不使路人直視正堂者也。
其位，
門
內、門外皆可。其形制，自下而上，三分焉，蓋座、身、頂也。壁之核心，謂曰「壁心」，常飾以吉圖、福字，或彩繪、或磚雕，不一而足。
以其間隔內外，故後以
禍起蕭牆，喻禍由內生。
