天聰四年，從征明，克永平四城。略明京師，明侍郎劉之綸率兵出禦，戰敗，所將兵盡被殲，之綸匿岩下，穆成格射之。八年，襲一等總兵官，尋改一等昂邦章京
。官至刑部左參政
。卒，子穆赫林，襲。
順治初，改一等精奇尼哈番
。恩詔，累進一等伯
。
康熙中，其孫吉當阿襲，複為一等精奇尼哈番
。
乾隆間，定封一等子
