楚康王十三年（魯襄公二十六年），楚侵吳，遂侵鄭，至於城麇。鄭皇頡戍之，出，與楚師戰，師敗。穿封戌囚皇頡，
王子圍爭之。正於伯州犁。伯州犁曰：「請問於囚。」乃立囚。伯州犁曰：「所爭，君子也。其何不知？」上其手，曰：「夫子為王子圍，寡君之貴介弟也。」下其手，曰：「此子為穿封戌，方城外之縣尹也。誰獲子？」頡解其意，言為王子所得，曰：「頡遇王子，弱焉。」穿封戌怒，抽戈逐王子圍，弗及。康王薨，王子圍弒郟敖自立，是為靈王。靈王七年（魯昭公八年），靈王滅陳，使戌為陳公。曰：「城麇之役，不諂。侍飲酒於王，王曰：「城麋之役，汝知寡人之及此，汝其辟寡人乎。」對曰：「若知君之及此，臣必致死禮，以息楚」。言早知靈王簒弒，必為郟敖致死，殺君以寧楚。
