端午，五月節，初五日為五月單五，蓋端字之轉音也。端午以前，世家大族，皆以粽 相饋貽，副以櫻桃、 桑椹、荸薺、桃杏及五毒餅、玫瑰餅。其供佛祀先者，則以粽、櫻桃、桑椹為正供，亦薦其時食之義也。 據 徐珂 《 清稗類鈔 》 端午一文似未成。宜善 之。
