筆者，所以書
畫也。凡載籍之傳、丹青之妙，皆賴之以成。其爲器雖微，其爲用實大。
稽其源流，則尚矣。上古之時，未有筆墨，結繩而治。及聖人以書契代之，始有刀筆，刻於竹木。至於蒙恬造
筆，則非創始，蓋改其制耳。
若乃殊方異域，如古埃及之民，則削蘆管爲筆，濡墨
以書於紙莎之上，亦其類也
。
辨名
日人稱毛筆爲筆。至於書畫之器，則統稱之筆記具、
筆具
。
