大中末，齊皋尚在有內官，擬引入教坊，辭以衰老，乃止。胡部中此樂妙絕，教坊雖有三十人，能者一兩人而已。

《王圻·三才圖會》云「師涓所作，靡靡之樂也，蓋空國之侯所好。」應劭曰「漢武帝令侯調，始造此器。」《史記封禪書》「漢武禱祠太乙、后土，始用樂，作箜篌。」《通典》云「其形似瑟而小，用撥彈之，非今器也。」又有云：「豎箜篌漢靈帝好之體曲，而長二十三，絃豎抱於懷中，兩手齊奏之，俗謂之劈正今物也。」據
