細筋，通譯神經，而譯覺筋、
氣筋、
涅伏者亦有之。在動物體中，所以集訊而傳之，俾物興奮也。纖維織綜，神經是輳。而興奮之訊，所出二端：一則腦
與脊髓，一則諸官
。於是神經以興奮相輸，自前者至後者，或自後者至前者。

初，漢譯為細筋
。
和譯神經，則自杉田玄白等人。昔彼人譯《
解體新書
》時，合神氣、經脈二辭，而造神經之語。
