荊南人。
開元十四年嚴迪榜進士及第。授宜壽尉，遷右拾遺，入集賢院待制，復授校書，終著作郎。與李端同時。《
唐才子傳
》云：「善詩調屹崒峭蒨足佳句，善寫方外之情，歷代未有。荊南分野，數百年來，獨秀斯人。」後見兵亂，官況日惡，掛冠歸隱江東別業。
王維有詩送之，曰：「明時久不達，棄置與君同。天命無怨色，人生有素風。」一時文士咸賦詩祖餞，甚榮。有集一卷，行世。
